Due to unprecedented roll growth over the last 2 years, the Principal and Board of Trustees of Arthur Street School have worked with the Ministry of Education to adopt an enrolment scheme, that was approved by the Secretary for Education. This means enrolment can only be guaranteed for a certain geographical zone, called the “Home Zone”. Details of this ‘Home Zone’ is listed on the attached description and map below.
Under this scheme students will be guaranteed enrolment if they live within the ‘Home Zone’.
Applications from students who live outside of the Home Zone, called “Out- of-Zone Enrolment”, will also be welcomed, but placement cannot be guaranteed. These applications will be processed using a priority system and, if necessary, a ballot in accordance with the Education Act 1989. The priority system is also attached below.
Our enrolment zone will take effect from 31st August 2020. Enrolments for children starting school before this date, are exempt from this scheme. Students who wish to enrol after this date will need to apply.
Applications for out of zone places are now being invited for those students who will be eligible for enrolment during the period 1st January 2021 through to 30th June 2021.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is 21st September 2020.
If a ballot for out-of-zone places is required, it will be held within 7 days of the closing date for application. Parents will be notified of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
If you live in the home zone and have not yet signalled your intention to enrol your child later in the year, or next year, please contact the school immediately to assist us to plan appropriately.
